David Burljuk was born on July, 9th (21) 1882 on farm Semirotovshchina of the Kharkov province (nowadays the Sumy region) in the family of the self educated agriculturist. He had two brothers and three sisters-Vladimir, Nikolay, Lyudmila, Maryanna and Nadezhda. Vladimir and Lyudmila were artists, Nikolay-the poet. In the childhood David has lost an eye in fight with the native brother. He lived with a glass eye, it became a part of his style. Studied in Kazan and Odessa` art colleges, Studied painting in Germany, in Munich, in " Royal Academy” by professor Willi Ditz and by Anton Ashbe's Slovene, in France, in Paris, at " L ` ecole des beaux arts ".
Having returned to Russia, in 1907-1908 Бурлюк has converged with the “left” artists and participated in art exhibitions. In 1911-1914 was engaged together with V.V.Majakovskim in Moskow school of painting, sculpturing and architecture.
Because of absence of the left eye, in First world war Burluk was not duted. Lived in Moscow, published verses, cooperated with newspapers, pictured pictures. In 1918-1920 went on tour together with Kamenski and Mayakovski across Urals Mountains, Siberia, the Far East.
In 1920 has emigrated to Japan where has lived two years, studying culture of the East and being engaged in painting. In 1922 has lodged in the USA. Being in New York, Burluk passionately dreamed of return to Russia in this connection has developed activity in prosoviet focused groups and having written a poem to the 10 anniversary of October revolution, aspired to get, in particular, a recognition as " the father of the Russian futurism ". His collections, brochures, magazines Burljuk published together with the wife, Maria Burljuk and through out his friends splashed these editions mainly within the limits of the USSR.
In 1956 and per 1965 has visited the USSR. Despite of repeated offers to the edition in the USSR, it did not manage to print lines.
Has died on January, 15th, 1967 in Hempton-Beyz, state of New York. Its body has been cremated according to the will and dispelled by relatives above waters of Atlantic from a board of the ferry.
