Volodymir Patyk was born on 9th of October 1926 in the Black Island village in Lviv region, studied at Lviv art-industrial school then at Lviv Institute of decorative art. The Connection with people he feels whole time, respects, loves folk art that fulfill him with patriotism and keeps him able to work.

Actualy he works without any holidays and rest, in ane conclusions and situations. So result is phenomenon: he became a great contemporary artist of Ukraine and Ukraine awarded him for that : National Artist of Ukraine, Owner of National Cash-Reward of Shevchenko, honour citizen of Lviv.

His 80th anniversary Volodymir Patyk met at National museum while presenting his personal exhibition. There were lots of people : he is respected, famous and one of the gratest artists not only of Lviv, but of Ukraine and of foreign countries to. It is rare when some of artists brings so much fun as he does, so much sun and emotional information from numerous corners of own country . His art is extremely connected with country` destiny, with its history, with people` destiny because the lived past and nowadays interesting artist in equal, opening for him epic plasts of history, acts, that motivated by that times, difficulties or even tragedy. Everything cares and interests creating images that wanted to splah on the canvas.

From the very beginning of self working after gratuading from Lviv Institute of decorative Art (1953), Patyk is traveling thole time, because he wound`t miss any opportunity to visit Polavf region, South of Ukraine, every year at Carpathians and before – Kolsky island, Baltic, Urals, Baikal lake, Mide Asia , Kaukaz – he brought materials from every corner and created images with it.

And now are added travels to Europe: Poland, Hungary, Germany, France, especialy places attended by Van Gogh, magic Paris and connecence with works of Sezan, Renoire, Dufi ect, that calls to understand the life.

Patyk prefers Ukrainian sceneries from everythin viewed, he wants to visit Eastern Ukraine every year. His will is easy to understand : classical image of Ukraine, its epic of spaces, kindness and beauty of people, but it disappears stagely , because villages , especialy near big towns, become empty and dead. There left only few olds that are destined to be forever alone.

He picts so dead villages that becomes so on eyes. With those villages disappear national architecture trasurese like wind-mills, that stand behind the village as guards on posts

Nowadays they aren`t in need so they rest only in songs, in history. These images become historical documents, crated by artist` brush, patriot, that deeply cares about society , destroying villages and love to the ground. Very strong is amaze by images of alone, ill people in those villages. But the Earth he sees in colorfull sunflowers behind the blue Dnipro inder the unlimited sky.

In seem way Patyk picts Boikovchina where under new conclusions starts to disappear a rare building culture- houses under a hight , as gothic, roofs: some kind of Carpathian gothique left on Patyk pictures. Need to know that he capured by beauty of nature feels in every corner of our country the human actions.

Also he pictures porrtraits, often they are image of time , mood, generation as charming “Oksana”, or “Woman from Rusov”, “Portrait of Vingunovski poet”. Exeptionaly he opened his essence in “Self portrait”. He introduces us wth many talented people, values them, meet with them because he has true feeling to them, and more he refers to those, who lived and made lots of good actions before, and not only to our country doers: the greatest love to Shevchenko taras (“Taras Shevchenko in Ukraine”), and to world`s doers, because respects artists and poets of Russia, France, Italy, Poland,- it is hard to name them all.

Huge erudition gives him an opportunity to solve problems deeper and better. Under magnetical world painting he creates himself his own varity of sunflowers, or Arl café or Paris streets, composes naturemorts with a fish or on sit raisins and other fruits only by himself. He has own view on everything around him, despite he feels that his art character and rich imaging nature behaved not ony by perfect teachers ( Fedyk, Lizshinski, Selsky, Manastirsky, Silvestrov) but also by creative heritage of Novakivski, Sezan, Van Gogh, Brak and other famous creators.
